Club History
Learn how Sylvania FC grew into a proud community club
Our Story
More than 70 years of football, community and The Trees
The story of Sylvania FC began in 1956, when local sporting enthusiasts came together to create a club for the growing Sylvania Heights community. Football officially became part of the club in 1958, with the first teams playing at Canberra Road.
As the club grew, so did the need for a bigger home. In 1962, Sylvania moved to Box Road, where our club has remained ever since. For more than six decades, Box Road has been the heart of Sylvania football — a place where generations of players have grown up, friendships have been made and memories have been created.
From just six teams in 1959, the club continued to grow through the dedication of players, families, coaches and volunteers.
Through changing generations, changing names and changing times, one thing has remained constant: Sylvania has always been home.
In 2013, the club became Sylvania Heights Football Club, introducing a new badge that proudly celebrated our famous nickname — The Trees.
Now, in 2027, a new chapter begins as we proudly become Sylvania FC. The name may be new, but the roots run deep.
Our story belongs to every player who has pulled on the green and gold, every coach and volunteer who has given their time, every family who has stood on the sidelines, and every generation that has called Box Road home.
From 1956 to 2027 and beyond, the story continues. This is Sylvania FC.
